What do you think? I like that it's going PG-13 Should we book it over everything else?

I don't know your booking situation (# of screens, ect.), but I'm high on Scary Movie 3 for small, rural markets. It won't play upscale, but with the PG-13 rating and a great trailer, I think the Jim Carrey/Adam Sandler fans will be out in droves.

I too saw the trailer and thought it showed much promise. It got my attention and I think it will have a good run in the smaller venues. It would be a great Halloween Movie.

Anyone else get get a call of a deal too good to pass up on this movie? They want it to open W I D E and appear hungry for sites. Hope that doesn't mean it's a dog. The trailer is pretty hilarious. I got a one week deal, opening weekend, with a second-run percentage.

I smell a rat, or maybe it's just a one weekend wonder I smell... Either way, playing one week on the break with a sweetened % will have it out and gone before the smell catches up... Go for it!...

I like it-the marketing is good, and it should do a couple weeks of solid business.Unless Miramax on Mon decides to change the release pattern!!

Why do they end a reel at a fade??????????????? I hope I cut the end of reel 2 and beginning of reel 3 in the right places on this movie.

Probably visual homage to the classics (1930's - 50's) when fades to black and disolves were common, especially at changeovers... You can go up into where there are frame lines and make a small scratch on the non-soundtrack side of the emulsion (every 4th sprocket hole) where the framelines would be, or lay a scrap of academy leader over the black tail/head lead and make a small scratch at a frame line spot on the print, and make your splice, assured it will be in frame...

Lining up the black section of the print to a length of film/leader with easily seen framelines works well in keeping track of the frameline for splicing.

Another tool if you don't have a footage counter or syncronizer is to make a jig with an old sprocket, marking every 4th tooth and gently running the film around the sprocket to find your cut point in the black section.

It is doing great here. Maybe it will pay for part of my worker's comp premium that came this week. Parts of the movie are very funny. Alot of it I really didn't get--never saw THE RING which I guess was referenced several times. I cracked up when the girl brushed her underarm. I think the PG13 rating was pushing it though. I couldn't believe the number of people that brought in small kids--even after I reminded them of the rating. I would not let my 9-yr-old grandson watch it.
