The soundfold drapes in my theater haven't been cleaned in a very long time. Maybe 20 years!!!

Any suggestions about the cheapest way to do it. Thye have had some moisture in the past in a few spots.

Vaccuuming is always the easiest and safest way of casual cleaning, but that won't help water marks or stains. Some soundfold surfaces are more about their backing material than the fabric surface itself. Some had a type of fireproofed paper, others used a type of fiberglas backing, so one must know what type of backing is involved. If it is absorbant like paper, most cleaning chemicals might make a larger spot and eliminate the fireproofing quality. Fiberglas should be immune to most standard cleaners, but some solvents might soften the binder in the fiberglas mesh. You might want to contact some of the places that make the soundfold, even if they didn't install it, for recomendations. Be careful of adding any moisture that might be trapped behind the soundfold, especially if it is not the corrugated type (some types were little more than stretched fabric against wallboard, and these would allow water to penetrate into the wallboard, and that means mold or worse.)

If you can determine who made the soundfold (perhaps a label is on the corner behind the surface somewhere, or listed in the building permits archive at the city) you might see if they have some patches for the type/color you have, and simply glue such a patch over the spotted/soiled area. This would save the whole cleaning question. Even if the specific type/color is no longer made, some soundfold manufacturer might have a similar color. Best Wishes.
