When we first took over our theatre on the coast of Maine the shows were 7 & 9 on weekends. This is a small town. 9 in evening shows were good. But we have a significant retiree boomer presence and recently we went to 5:30 +/- and 8 or whatever times need to be and everyone is loving it. Easier for parents with kids that need to go to bed befpore 9, better to go out to a restaurant afterwards, okay for the younger adults, and the staff likes not hanging around for 24 people until nearly midnight. Anyone else notice this?

I've been gradually pushing my showtimes earlier but haven't had the guts to do as big of a swing as what you're doing. My 7pm shows are now 6:30-7:00 and my 10pm shows are now 9:15-9:55. Do you think 6pm and 8pm is a good idea?

Our evening showtimes are 7 & 9:30, but we are losing our 9:30 crowd. Seriously, it is such a waste of time. The only reason I haven't cancelled the 9:30 entirely is because it's the only show my restaurant workers can come to. We have one restaurant with a big staff that will close an hour early so they can come watch a movie all together. They don't come every night obviously, but I love seeing them and it makes it worth it to me.

I've considered going 6 & 8, but I don't want to mess with the 7. It works really well for people to go to dinner at 6 and come here right after.

To bolster our 9:30, I've toyed with the idea of doing a cult classic series and/or serving beer for that showing only. We have an award winning craft brewery here, and I would love to be able to serve their beers exclusively.

I dropped my 9pm show times a couple years ago, even in the summer time.
We were lucky to have 10 people show up for them, so it just wasn't worth keeping the staff on payroll for the 9pm shows.

Our crowd is mostly older adults and families with young kids.

We stagger our primetime shows between 6:30 and 7:30 starts.
