I was at Show West the year they honored him and was kind of horrified as I'd had no idea he'd had such troubles. His wife spoke for him that evening but his words always were the finest clearest writing on theatre, film, movies, and the reasons behind everything we see, hear, and how and why we do it when we are at the movies. Geez... where do you go to get another Roger Ebert?
