Mike:

One of the most common questions that small town theater operators get is "can we use a movie for a fund raiser?"
The problem, of course, is the film cost/percentage.

I see that you are running The Wizard of Oz (1939) Sing A Long and the Sound of Music Sing A Long for fund raisers this month and next at one of your locations.

Are the features a flat fee? Or do the studios require a cut of the donations?

How did you talk Warners and Fox into this? You are The Man!

We rented the 35mm version of Oz 3 or 4 years ago for a fundraiser for a community group. We paid $250 flat at the time. We booked it through our booker and it wasn't much trouble. We've done several fundraisers, sometimes they'll want $250 vs 35%, which I think is reasonable.

I thought there was a different post here? Something that Bob could not get this movie.

Maybe Mike is just a better movie booker.

Mike has told operators on this site to use DVD's without getting the proper license. Is that happening with Oz and Sound of Music?
No disrespect Mike, but doing so and promoting on your website could spell trouble.

You can always tell when summer is approaching by the sound of crickets.
