Do distributors typically pay bookers?

Definition :

Film Buyer - represents A theater ( or theater's) when dealing with the studio.

Booker - represents the studio to place there films in theaters.

On occasion a film buyer will represent a small studio or indi film maker as a booker . Very rare but it does happen .

I'm not so sure about those definitions.

Read any industry article about the big film festivals and you will see the term "Film Buyer" used as the person who represents distributers that are looking to pick up movies.

I was just reading through the contract Fox sent over to me and they specifically use the term "booker" to refer to the person who represents a theater.

I am--- lol-- the studio may also have a film buyer that goes to festivals and buys movies this person would be different than there bookers .

Fox is using the term incorrectly as many people often do .

Wouldn't be the first time a distributor didn't know what they were talking about :p

I refer to myself as a "film buyer" but also as a "booker" for theatres. I do the "booking." And I have "booked" for theatres. Booker is more casual. The film comp. guys and ladies I speak with often refer to themselves as a salesperson or representative. Next week I'll ask for clarification.
