Did anyone get their terms for Hunger Games yet? I can't recall any studio waiting this long. I know this is by far their widest release (4100+ vs 3300 or so previously), so I guess we should cut them some slack.

I think they asked for advances with some and forgot to ask others. :) Fine by me.

So Digital is a huge plus for the bigger plexes and chains that will not get in trouble for dropping shows. My main bigger regional chain competitor dropped 2 scheduled prime time shows for other movies in order to add Hunger Games shows. They went from 3-5 shows at 7ish.

We have hateful people when we drop shows due to equipment problems. I can't imagine what it would be like in this instance.

Ha! By the time I was done writing this post they went back to the earlier scheduled times on their website.

Still never got terms for this movie.

I can see adding screens at midnight and getting away with it but the other distribs are mighty uncomy about taking their pics down to show something "good"

Not sure that you're getting away with anything by adding otherwise-dark screens to a midnight show. To the film company, the auditorium just got a lot bigger, that's all.

I am NOT talking about midnight shows.

This is what they did. They cancelled Friday 7pm shows of two other movies that had already been scheduled and added more shows of Hunger Games. The changes were live on their website for a couple of hours before they were to start and when those added shows had started, they removed them from their website and the original scheduled shows were back on.

Hunger loses ALL of its IMAX screens as of today (Thurs Mar 29 2012). The IMAX screens are all contractually obligated for "Wrath of the Titans"

Proving once again that a small distributor - even with a wildly sucessful picture -still has no clout when it comes to taking on the big boys.

I am kinda of surpised to see the theaters around me still keeping it on 3 screens. If is tracks similarly to Twilight it will drop 70% this weekend. But not much out there to play. Both 8's by me are only playing 5 movies.

Friday you will see a 70+ drop due to midnight numbers -- but I think rest of the weekend will hold up better.

Will Hunger Games make it to $400m and a 64% film rental???? I can't recall a movie with the sliding scale taking this long to final. Looks like it might need a 12th or even 13th week to hit $400m. It will not get their this weekend.

BTW, got my terms on the 20th day of play on this movie.

You're not on an annual scale deal with Lionsgate?

No (not sure what that is but I just asked). I only played Hunger Games over the past year with them. I am only 4 screens and first run, so I do not have much room for their movies. I guess going forward I will play 2 movies a year with them.
