So the dilemma for today: Book a 3 week movie off the break or book a movie from a smaller studio???

A year from now, with the trends of getting more on the break having been increasing the past 12 months for me; I might have a chance at being above that 85% guideline to qualify for VPFs as a first-run theater. So what movie do I book for this week? I do not believe this major studio 3 week movie will do more than $2-300 more than smaller independent studio movie(s) available.

For every movie you play off-break, you will need to play 6 on the break to make up for it!

Or is this really just a pie in the sky for me to chase after?

Your thoughts?

I believe the 85% rule is per studio. So if you're under 85% for one studio, you MAY not get a full VPF. If you're over 85% for the other studios, you should still receive full VPFs from them.

Which is why I am thinking about playing the smaller studio's movie since I might only play 1-2 movies a year from them and probably seldom play it within 6 weeks of release.

Who said there was an 85% rule?
I thought it was 90%.
And VPFs are per studio anyway.
One studio may pay a sub run another may pay first run VPF.

I have heard both. Been told it is 85% but 90% is sure a nice goal to hit.

Again I understand it is per studio. Which is why I am might avoid the majors move-over movies. Unless it is the rare movie with nice legs which there are none right now.
