What is your opinion of them? I know they would be disastrous in my little market on my single screen. Do they work for you?

I am in the situation with my 1 screen also. Can be tough . Try 2 week deal with a hold over number for the 3 rd. I am out of service with Summit because I dropped a film after 2 weeks. I did that because I dont care about Summit and it is what it is. After 2 weeks if the gross is really bad most will let you out.

Don't like them one bit for our single screen. I commonly refer to them as our "Dead Third Week".

I usually prefer 3 weeks, it seems to work decent for us. But we are seasonal 1st-run so it really does not cause too many problems.

But what are you going to do? Say no and not get 1st run product?

Well, I haven't said yes to any three week deals yet. My customers are tired of a movie after two weeks (and so am I). They have definitely lost their steam by then. A third week would be a joke. I'd rather play moveover where the terms are lower and the flexibility is there. I'll run 1st run with a two week deal but I'm not playing a movie for a great first week followed by a so-so week followed by a terrible week. All of which at 60% or whatever they're charging. That just doesn't make sense in my situation.

My customers will just go see it somewhere else. Not enough good move-over product out there on a regular basis that my customers want to see that they have not seen. A 3rd week does pretty close to a move-over week.

I don't have that problem to the same degree. Much less competition out here in the sticks. Some movies I lose out some I don't. Some of my best weeks are moveover weeks (Blind Side, Wild Hogs, Avatar, Cars, Shrek 2) all many weeks old by the time I played them and some of my best and most profitable ever. Having said that, there are some movies that it pays to open. Harry Potter is an event film that people will drive for. Twilight is similar in this regard but there always seems to be something else I'd rather play when Twilight comes around. Makes it frustrating but I guess I shouldn't worry about it so much if I can just bring it in moveover and still do well with it. Still sucks to hear it from your distributor, though...
