we have done this for years. Sponsors underwrite the costs of films. We flat book 4 films. Free seats on weekend matinee! 3000 people come: devour food! Do you do anything like this? Mike

Over what period of time do you do this? A single weekend?

Also, is this something you do during the Christmas adjacent weekend? Thanksgiving?

The city council here has contacted us about sponsoring movies and we have a really active group of local retailers.

On what holiday? We are packed with people with the regular product and prices. Not shure about my line up for this Thanksgiving though.

A day of free movies can do nothing but improve a theatre's relationship with the community. I would do it on Christmas day (and not with R rated garbage).

I haven't had any luck doing this. Tried it several times and I always end up losing money and spending hours on a scratched up crappy print. Bah Humbug!

we do 4 weekends: 2 shows Sat and two shows Sunday/ we have to take the shows from someone and from time to time it has been a problem with an absolutely cannot split situation. We pick films that are just about to go to DVD and then Disney will not allow this type of show at all so no Disney. The sponsorship is enormous and the response is great. This year we are adding a free bike give away every weekend. We really lay on the trailers for what's playing and it helps a lot.
