For those of you who want a count of the number of locations with Digital projection, Rentrak has the estimated count for Toy Story 1 & 2 at 1745 locations. Of course that means 3d as well. I wonder how many more have digital but not 3d? How many are not playing the Toy Story double feature that have 3d capability?

I was under the impression the release would be digital-3D only.

TOY STORY 1 & 2 is digital 3D only, two weeks only.

There are well over 5,000 digital screens installed as of today. After DCIP completes their + or - 15,000 installations in 3-5 yrs, by their estimation, that number should be well over 20,000 screens.

Hey transit:

I thought the number of digital locations was 500 (from what I've read).

Bob,

If there was only 500 locations then why would Rentrak report that there are 1745 playing Toy Story?

A positive for us as we are playing Cloudy w/ Meatballs is that a digital/3d location 20 mins away from us dropped it to play the Toy Story DF. We also got a few people the past two weeks who complained about the higher prices for 3d.

I don't know how accurate my info is but we both know that those pushing digital are going to do everything they can (including exaggerating location figures) to convince us that digital is sweeping the land.

Rentrak also says that 1697 locations opened Meatballs in 3d and that at least 795 locations kept it in 3d when the TS doouble opened. That is alot of locations playing both.

Can you give any reason not to believe Rentrak's numbers? Or is Rentrak part of the conspiracy?

Anyone know how many of the digital 3d locations came out of the CBG camp?

I know I am concerned that the digital rollout is happening at a pretty good pace. 1700 locations with an average of 3.5 screens per. Just a guess but pretty close to that.

Where will we be 1 year from now? You think this fall has been hard getting movies.....what will next year be like if just 25% more locations get digital?

In the KC district, 20 of 22 locations (who played Toy Story-that allow their numbers to be visible) played G.I. Joe. They made of 30% of the locations but made up 62% of the week 1 gross. What happens when 80% of the gross is coming from digital??
