Yo, Mikey. Yo, Slap. This is a must play. Have it on one of my big screens and it's doing fantastic. Just came from seeing it, and it's a terrific flick with sensational performances.

I love movies that are so real, you think you're watching a documentary. It makes me even more angry at the whole Iraq/Afghanistan situation. There was an article in the New York Times where soldiers have said this movie depicts Iraq EXACTLY as it is over there.
It is a rough movie. But it was excellent cinema. A reason to go to the movies and to see a very well made movie with a purpose!
I am surprised this did not have a wider release!

You guys must be on the East coast. We haven't even heard of this film here in Oregon yet. (Releases are and always have been of course East to West.)

I dont understand this is a US view of Iraq, we should see our soldiers and what they are going through!

Problem is, there are sometimes more than two sides to a story. Regardless what your attitude is about the war, I'm sure we all know of at least one or two producers who've used the cinema to forward their personal viewpoint. Having watched several programs purporting to "tell the Iraq story", I'm not sure what you really can trust at this point.

If you look, you can just as easily find stories about soldiers with opposite perspectives. For sure, nothing coming out of the New York Times warrants automatic credibility. That paper has its agenda, just like any other producer out there.

Whether I agree with the politics or not, I'm not inclined to use my theatre for propaganda purposes. The closest I've been was running the last couple of Steven Segal movies!

Well... that, and maybe "Team America"!

There goes the sterotype that I had that in order to be a art-house theater you had to have Michael Moore is god, anti-war, anti-corp, anti-Bush/Cheney fare!

Please note sarcasm!

I saw the film and thought it was very good. I don't think you could in any way label this an anti Iraq war film. I thought it did a good job of showing the effects of the war, any war, or troops. This war has gone on a lot longer than many others so you now have troops doing 3-4 tours and that was almost unheard of in Vietnam. The scene in the supermarket when he can't decide on cereal says it all. I have a good friend (I'm his designated contact in case) who hates the war, hates the military, and he keeps signing up and wanting to go back for his 4th time. Go figure. Hurt Locker is a good movie. I'll play it when it becomes available.
