Also thanks for a somewhat reasonable film rental split.

Evidently no one else got a Blended Per Cap letter from WB? We now pay the "reasonable" film rental on an alternative calculated per cap that they assigned us which is equivalent to our highest ticket price. So, if we sell a matinee ticket we still pay the film rental on the evening price. Regardless, so my net film rental will be somewhere around 80-85%. Still think that is reasonable? I don't.

We did get a blended per cap letter and it was at or below are current prices. I know leeler got one too but it went down?

Beckwith, what are your ticket prices? How much lower are your ticket prices than others within your area? What was your blendeed per cap before? It was must of went up a lot or you would not have booked it right?

you should raise the ticket price ( so you dont pay the difference) those letters came in advance of the opening. THE BOX OFFICE Window SHOULD SAY SPECIAL ENGAGEMENT ALL TICKETS $......

my letter came a week or so before the opening. It said my new blended per cap is $3.25 which is down a buck from where it was last year. My ticket prices are $4 so it won't come into play this year but did last Harry Potter

Check your letter for accuracy. Our country theatre had a blended cap $1 higher than my city theatre. Our booker is currently working with them to see what they did to come up with that number in a small town in the country.

I think WB calculations were not accurate. I think they picked up my small city name and used comps for that city from a different state. We will have to see.

In beckwith defense:
I too received my letter a week before opening. If someone wanted to change their pricing policies for 1 movie, there was little time to do it. After-all for most of us the movie was booked at least 1-2 weeks earlier than receipt of the letter after I am sure we had been telling people that yes we would be getting the movie.

I guess going forward we may need to be careful when booking with studios who have a blended cap policy.

The booking of films can be a bit frustrating. Some studios send out booking confirmations but I always get them after the first play date. One studio refuses to talk about booking in emails, it must be done on the phone. Terms are often given 7-9 days before the first play date. Making it almost impossible to change your mind if the rental is too high in your opinion.

At least in the video business, if I do not like my pricing from the distributer/studios, their is always Wal-Mart/Amazon/etc. who are many times cheaper.

With the blended per cap our net film rental is coming out at 70%. Basically just back to the higher terms we payed years ago.
