Hi, Im looking in to opening a theater outside the US... does anyone have any insight to the way movie licenses are obtained or any quirks I should know about... Thanks!

Search the forms for booker or other key words on this topic. Also read a lot of the other topics on starting a theatre and the FAQ section here. You will find out more than you wanted to know.

The above advise is good. My guess is it would be the same as in the U.S. There are distributor reps you have to deal with for the films (which come with a "license") and probably local authorities you have to deal with as well. There should be equipment dealers in the country you are considering. If not most U.S. dealers will ship anywhere in the world. www.iceco.com would be a good place to start.
