Is there a service that provides trailers on DVD to theatres to use on in-lobby monitors, and on local cable outlets?

Larry,

for my video store I use apple quicktime. They have nearly all of the movies trailers.

www.apple.com/trailers/

You'll need to buy quicktime pro which is cheap but then allows you to save the trailer as a quicktime file.

then once I have the collection I want I use a quicktime to DVD program called convert x to DVD

www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

this converts it to DVD chapters and then I burn a DVD of them. The whole process takes some computer time but is very easy to do. I make a new disc every week with the new DVDs in my collection and then it just reruns over and over again.

I know that Mt. Burney (I think anyway) uses dvd to show all the coming attractions. I'd love to hear from any theatre that is using DVD to show trailers. Is this the same method you use?

For Mac people:

iTunes>theatrical trailers>Choose resolution>download into iTunes>drag from iTunes and drop into Toast>burn. Make sure to determine if you need a double layer DVD. Use one anyway if it's close.

So, out of curiosity...
What's with the AVS Burner banner? Is that a snazzy background function of the board software... or does Mike spend his evenings, perusing the threads... stealthily placing strategic advertising under our unsuspecting noses??? :P

I've used it before and it is useful but the method outlined above should cover most of the trailers you'd need. Some (arthouse titles especially) movies aren't on the apple site and so there is no quicktime file to be found and then the method I use is to find the trailer on some other site (youtube, usually) and then use:

www.mediaconverter.org/

This will enable you to convert the flash file to a quicktime file and then burn. Quality does go down using, this, however, so by all means, if you can find a quicktime file then use it instead.

Happy burning!

You must be thinking of someone else, Mike. I use regular trailers. I like the idea, though.
