Does anyone have booking/contact information for the 1987 version of Dirty Dancing?
We are considering doing an 80's April series of films and this one seems like a natural choice. The original distributor was Vestron or something like that, but I can't find info on who has the rights now.

Hi, Tony;

Since many Vestron titles ended up at Lions Gate, and Lions Gate made the sequel, I would start there. If that fails, try MGM. Seems like they own many of the 80s indies.

Lionsgate is the rights holder - both 35mm and DVD.

Thanks Larry!

Don't remember who it was from, but our booker out of Ohio got a copy back in August to show for one weekend as a double feature of GREASE and the 1987 "Dirty Dancing". The print of Grease I got was scratched and faded, however the print I got of Dirty Dancing was a brand new (never run before) copy from the 20th Anniversary re-release. It was fantastic.

We got some great write-ups in the Nashville newspapers for running Dirty Dancing at the drive-in.

We are going to be running it on DVD.

We recently acquired an extremely nice Sanyo projector.
DVDs look amazingly good, even on our 33ft screen.
The picture is extremely sharp and vivid.
You can still tell that it is not film though - it doesn't
have that "depth" to it that film has.
But it is good enough for showing older films, where the odds of
getting a good print are very poor.
