Thoughts? Are you small town theaters taking this?

We are in a mid size city (Charleston Sc) we are getting this.But it is as bad an R as you can get.This film should be NC-17.We can get away with it, can your town?Only you can say!

nc-17? gee whiz. Maybe I am getting more accepting of naked people in my old age. There is full frontal male and female nudity. There are no erections. There is no close up female genitalia. Phony simulated sex. With careful clothing to shield the delicate viewers. There is one close up of scrotum ala Jason Mewes. R for sure. But nc-17? Has anyone been on this thing called the internet lately? Do we have any idea of what kids and adults are seeing without restraint in the privacy of their own schools, homes, and ofices? Zach/Miri might as well be Babar. I am playing this at the Colonial in Belfast Maine a small town of 6500 because it fits. We will not allow "kids" in. But 17 and up? Go for it. We saw the coming attractions in 3-d for some horror film where a pick axe goes through a guys head and comes straight out at you with the eye ball impaled on it. R? Or just good clean murdering film. Saw 1-5? Toture and dismemberment I suppose is fine for small towns but God forbid we see one scrotum wobbling toward the fridge. If I never see an other horror film released, as opposed to documentaries that catalog the real life horrors we live with, it will be far too soon. At dinner last night there was a tv over the bar in a restaurant and there's some crime/medical tv show with pieces of people and blood spatters all over the place. God forbid we see a naked butt. OMG I am going to pull a John Bulushi when he used to do the news and spin out like a mad man.

The biggest problem that this picture has is that it is released by Weinstein which recently has unable to successfully market anything.

.....now I am remembering why it was so funny. It is all clearly simulated rather than real. It is less explicit than 9.5 weeks IE. There's no arguement that it's not for kids. Other than that... who cares r or nc-17? My point is you can blow peoples brains out and get pg-13 but God forbid you blow bubbles out your wahzoo. That is truly obscene. Why is violence in any extreme good entertainment and comic simulated sex worthy of so much cultural focus?

Don't try to make sense of R vs NC-17. Ever see the movie THIS FILM IS NOT YET RATED? If not, it plays on IFC from time to time, check it out.

The more desensitized a person gets, the less explicit it seems.

Am I really the only one who found the details of this post not only disturbing, but offensive and completely unprofessional for this forum? For those who want to share their appreciation for pornography with others, there are plenty of other venues where you can do so. I, for one, would thank you very much for taking it elsewhere.

Well I appreciate the responses and I don't find it offensive. I just want to know what I am up against. I agree that violence is worse and find it amusing that at least in my town parents would be perfectly okay with their kids coming in to see Saw V but will boycott our theater for shwoing Zack & Miri.

Well we told them we would give them the date and they agreed on Friday but on Monday they decided to pull back and we got left out of the plan. Typical for this film company I hear. How do you make money if you don't market and don't put the film out there for people to see.

This forum is for theatre owners, bookers, and employees who have to make informed decisions on what they show. This forum is for adults and not children. We have to be able to talk openly about the movies we show. It is absolutely appropriate to do so here.

The fact is, since this site is privately owned, anything can be said as long as the owner doesn't object. I'm just disappointed in the lack of moderation and respect for others. Not all adults choose to engage in pornography, yet it is tolerated.

Having to skirt the question, "Dad, what is a dildo?" from my 10-year old son- who often reads over my shoulder- is not appreciated. Even though there is no adult content disclaimer anywhere, this site is apparently for adults only. A warning to others with the same concerns.

Many times in any day, for people who use porn (?) or don't,....... and by no means do I consider this conversation porn... American Pie? There's Something About Mary hair cream, etc. etc. ...........but as I was saying..... we all are careful what we say in front of kids, etc. etc. Being careful would include having a 10 year old read over uyour shoulder as one has a discussion such as this one.

Trust me, we've learned our lesson. Because of this thread, my son is no longer allowed to read over my shoulder when I visit these forums. We've never run into this problem here before. It's a shame because we've really enjoyed coming here together and learning the biz, but I can't allow him to be blindsided like that again either. The only reason I'm even responding is in hopes that others read this thread and understand that offensive language and ideas are openly allowed here without warning or apology.

"American Pie" and "Something About Mary" are obviously not pornos, but when a movie's title is "Zach and Miri Make A Porno", we get the plot without needing to have the worst scenes (or BEST scenes to some) verbalized in detail.
