Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc. etc. The HOT TICKET!!! What we do is let people line up and buy tickets that day when the box office opens. Otherwise if we sold in advance the people who came that day looking for tiks wouldn't have a chance: the tiks would be gone. On the other hand it seems like: why not sell advance tiks? What do you do on advance tiks? Internet ticketing must do this no problem.

Our computer system will not allow us to sell tickets days in advance. We do sell all seats day of show. Since we only sell out our largest auditorium a few times per year, it doesn't make sense to pre-sell tickets. If we sold out on a weekly basis then I might revisit the question.

In my experience when working at a 5 screen art plex in a major city several years ago, advance ticketing is a pain in the butt. Especially non-theatre controlled advance ticketing such as Moviephone. People who use these services think that because they bought their tickets in advance that they can waltz in a 5 minutes to showtime on a Friday or Saturday night and there will be the perfect middle of the row, middle of the room seats right their waiting for them. WRONG!

We strongly encourage advance ticket purchasers to show up 1/2 hour prior to the showtime to get the seat of their choice.
