We visited a old single screen in Ogunquit, Maine and noticed that they had converted a storefront to sell all posters and the variuous stuff like standees etc. we all get
from the distribs. It's a very touristy little town and was quite busy and stuff was selling. Does anyone else do anything besides pile the stuff up for retirement?

They make good prizes for drawings and fund raisers. We give away free passes but at times we may throw in a poster to keep the interest hightened. When a real big picture comes along like "Titanic" or "Shrek" we frame the poster and use it to raise money for local fund raisers. People outside of the movie theater industry seem to love posters and movie related stuff.

I am the Development Director for a noncommercial radio station. We hold an annual on-air auction in December each year and I hope that my local triplex could do something like poppajoe suggested. If this locally owned theater donated a framed poster of TITANIC or SHREK (or the like), they would get much publicity as a donor and their name would be mentioned on the air and in print advertising frequently. Good idea!
