TOPIC: "Rocky Horror"

"Rocky Horror" 04 Oct 2001 02:31 #2087

Anyone have any info on what the rental for "Rocky Horror" is or how hard it is to get booked? Anyone care to share their experiences on playing it at midnight? I played it only once and it was part of a film festival. It was definately an experience but was alot of fun. Tim Curry showed up and hosted the event. It was a blast.

Depends on when you want to book it. If you were thinking the weekend before Halloween, chances are very slim. Prints are extremely limited on this, and the Halloween pre-weekend is the biggest of the year. Fox usually takes the biggest grossing houses that weekend to maximize their prints. At other times, depending on where you are, it should be fairly accessible. Just ask your booker re: availability and terms.

For a long time Fox was not very wound up about Rocky. They had a few prints and did not have any more. Theatres that play Rocky often play it every weekend and do so for very long periods. There are theatres that have kept a print for years. So Fox didn't even have prints to share. Now it seems much healthier. It is usually a higher than normal flat rate vs. %. Your booker will take care of it. Or if you were booking yourself you'd just call Fox.

I'm anxious to see how "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" does for us next week. It's supposed to be the next RHPS.
