TOPIC: Movie Rental Costs

Movie Rental Costs 06 Sep 2001 23:04 #1969

Thank you so much for the responses to my first post. I am very pleased to have finally found this forum to air my questions.
I think I understand that new movies work on the precentage system, and older movies out of current circulation have flat weekly rentals of "100-150 no limit on run"(from old post). Anyhow, my question is this, what would be a good rule of thumb to estimate weekly costs of 2nd and subrun movie rental fees for 1 or two screens.
I am trying to do a cost analysis, even after RoxyVaudeville's astute advice not to dabble in 2nd run venue.

Advance thanks for your time and attention to my question!

As long as you are not booking flat rate - use 35%. Most come in at 35 the first week, drop to 30 the next week. A few others come in at 40 and drop each week. Some never drop from the first week.
