Nim's is "not going as wide" as they had said. Anyone else hear this?

Has anyone been told they would get it, but had a print taken away from them?

I have been told we have it so we will have to see.

I could not get 21 after all the publicity and TV ads. Why do they spend all the money on TV ans in Vegas only to pull back to less that 2K prints.

and we could not get 21 either. I said to them: you spent 300-400K for the freaking Showest party: how about an extra 1000 prints instead? Christmas!

I lost Nims too, after they said I had it. Told me they were pulling it back quite a bit. Translation: lousy flick. I rarely ever get upset about a pull back like that. Its a pretty good indicator I didnt want it in the first place. I'll pick it up in a few weeks, after I see how the numbers do.

Don't you think it could also have to do with how well Horton is doing?

I was turned down for 21 also.......They gave it to Carmike wich is my clearence.Did not get a good review in Charleston.

I just completed box office comps for the last 6 months for a studio. Our per screen average was just about 200% over Carmike in our clearence. We still did not get the pic...

All is fair in love and war....Not the movie bsns!

I didn't get Nim either, even though mojo says there are 3400+ prints....did they pull back from that number? Funny that I got Leatherheads with 2700 prints....Any buzz on this?

I also didn't get 21....

Has anyone asked if you had digital, would you have been able to play the films that you could not get on 35mm?

I have asked the exact question: so far the answer is no because they have to pay a "virtual print fee" as compensation to the theatres that have installed digital. Eith way it is supposed to cost the same.

Can you not say you do not expect them to pay you that fee? This of course assumes that you bought the equipment outright. One of the digital equipment suppliers I talked to said that one of the reasons that he feels that the studios will drastically reduce VPFs in the future is b/c of all of the digital equipment going in right now that is supposively not getting VPFs or without any promises of VPFs.

So this leads to an important question to the seasonal first-run folks: Could we gross more on the big blockbusters if we have new product all year long? This assumes that mamy customers may forget about us when we playing 3-5 week old stuff.

Nims pulling back? Sure doesn't look like it in my neck of the woods.

In what is now the vastly overscreened Central Pennsylvania market, everyone of the fifteen major multiplexes in the 35 mile radius surrounding my residence has a least one print (and some comlexes have two prints) of Nim's Island. Also one of the single screen independents also got a print.

Just to put this in perspective, within the forementioned 35 mile radius, there is now a total of 176 actively operating screens serving a population of approximately 800,000. (And the construction of yet another 14 plex was just announced).

The numbers i use are 3 screens for every 10,000 in population..so i would think your zone at 800,000 could support up to 240 screens.
