Hello,

I'm looking for sheet music for a silent film (preferably something well know, Buster Keaton, Chaplin or Metropolis) so that we can put on an event with a live accompanist at the theatre. I've had very little luck located scores or piano reductions. Anyone had any success with this/know where to find feature length silent films scores?

When I'm looking for something specific, I can usually get an idea or two from doing a Google search. Try typing in "silent film sheet music" and see what comes up.

There has been a rash of silent film cue sheets oe eBay lately. Try searching for "silent film". It's a crapshoot, but you might find some things you could use. There is also a book called "Moving Picture Moods" which is a reprint of a massive silent era book of piano cues keyed to various emotions and paces. It turns up used now and again.

I have done silent films in the past and my artists tell me it is almost impossible to get the original scores. They all compose their own scores.

We have a theatre organ so I have several people who can do this who play at the theatre on a regular basis. I have been approached by groups who do this across the country playing various instruments.
