I am mystified by the upcoming films. What do you see as first run main stream hot stuff must play? I see 10K and Semi Pro. What else?

March 14: Horton Hears a Who (kid flick)

March 28: Superhero Movie (should be good for a weekend or 2)

April 4: Leatherheads (hope it will perform better than Grindhouse did in 2007)

April 11: Prom Night (in the vein of Amityville Horror & The Hills Have Eyes, another retread that might hold us over until the summer movies arrive)

April 18: 88 minutes (is this a title, or a running time? Al Pacino is due for a big hit)

April 25: Baby Mama (the unofficial sequel to Juno & Knocked Up)

Hopefully, some of the above will help us keep the lights on and the bills paid until the goodies come out of the safe in May. As always in this business, there will be surprises and letdowns. Those are my best bets for March and April, but as most of us already know, anything can happen.

I agree with most of Rick's list. I would substitute Nim's Island with either Superhero Movie or Baby Mama. Vantage Point looks good also. Seems like a better crop then last year at this time

Semi-pro is rated R? thats such a bad move - like heart break kid - not only was it a stinker it was a rated R stinker - at least bored teens go to bad movies.

isnt Leatherheads a George Clooney vehicle? (didnt get the Grindhouse ref)

Speed Racer? i was excited a long time ago but the trailer made me dizzy

What about for us "Seasonal 1st Runs"? Can't get Semi-Pro or College Road Trip or probably 10,000 BC. have Jumper and Spiderwick now, but those will be pretty old in a couple of weeks. I need something for March 7th, thoughts?? Should be able to get Horton on the 14th.

Grindhouse came out the same weekend as Leatherheads comes out, but 1 year earlier. That is all they have in common. We hope.

I can't believe 10,000 BC isn't mentioned more as a "hot stuff must have". It's poised to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. That would be #1 on my list.

The last time I saw "100,000 BC" was back in the early 80's when it was called "Quest For Fire".

Quest was also released about the same time of the year (Mar/Apr)and touted as a major blockbuster with a wide release which included one of the largest 70MM print runs to that date (we ran it in 70MM) .... and you couldn't give tickets away. There just wasn't any interest in the subject matter.

10 K is not going as wide as wide can be. It makes me think it may not be as biggie as I thought. They are making you hold through Easter at minimum. It is supposed to be violent. Oh those cave men! Always with the stone axes and spears. Have a latte!

Depending on your location, Meet the Browns (03/21). Tyler Perry's Madea franchise is HUGE in the south. I thought I would interject a little guy.

I'm going to the "College Road Trip" screening tomorrow (if it doesn't snow too hard today). It is rated G which are pretty few and far between but the trailer didn't do anything for me so we'll see.
