TOPIC: Direct TV/Sporting Events

Direct TV/Sporting Events 05 Feb 2008 12:07 #17588

After doing my due diligence with the search engine I didn't see anything about this topic.

Does anyone have Direct TV hooked up to one of their screens and have you ever done an event behind it?

Running a screen via Direct TV or cable or a rabbit ears or a dvd or a computer is as simple as hooking it up.

I sort of looked into getting a dish setup at the theatre. They have commercial accounts. I was told you can get setup without having a contract, and pay a minimal monthly fee. Then when an event comes up you want to project you pay for the event and by the occupancy rating of the business.

I haven't taken it any further, so don't know any specifics of what the costs are to project an event to a paying audience.

I do know that NFL programming cannot be on a screen larger than 55 inches. We had some churches get busted for projecting on larger screens last year. Who were hosting super bowl parties in their basements etc.
Also charging to view NFL programming is strictly forbidden by them.

I think the key to bars is that they do not charge to see the game. They charge for food and drink the TV is free. If you charge to get into the event then I think the broadcaster wants their cut or just won't allow it. I would love to broadcast the oscars but I am guessing the cost to do so is not worth it. Monthly Direct TV prices for business's are a lot more than for your home.
