We had a small film contest in our state for the High Schools and Comunity Colleges and the winners want to know if I could show their films in my theater. Can I do this without getting booking agents upset? Or should I just forget thinking about it. I really think it would be a fun thing to do.

If these films were made by the students from those schools, and they want to show them in your theatre... by all means do it. It will get all parties involved some great publicity. We have done it several times, and newspapers love this type of story.

Read your booking contract. As long as you don't bump a screening you've promised to have, you should be okay. Find a time convenient to the group, but that doesn't interfere with your regular schedule.

What format are the movies? Video doesn't usually "cut it" on a big screen.

I think giving your booker fair warning should be fine. It's not like your bumping one film compnay to play another.

As far as format goes, I wa sitting in Scott Hick's office at American Cinema Equipment and he was showing off some of the new media projectors out there. They've come a long way, baby . . . . Made me think digital might be closer than i thought.
