Just asking again how much of the films gross does a theater usually take first weekend, second weekend and then on and on?

I have seen the answer written here before but I was just curious. How much of the films opening week take does the theater keep?

The amount that is charged as a rental for first run movies varies from picture to picture and studio to studio. There are a lot of factors that come into play and therefore it's impossible to give an exact answer.

However, most of the time you will keep between 30 to 50% of the gross the first week.

I am one that likes the aggregated gross....That is when to pay the same the whole run of the movie but you keep more upfront.

different deals are made for each theatre. Then there is the 90-10 rule. Short version: you establish a "house allowance" for cost to run theatre. Let's say it is 2000.00. You gross 8000.00 on a picture. Less the 2k and you have 6. They charge 90 of the 6K and you keep 10%. Confused?

Often deals are 70-60-50-40 or 35 % for each best week. Best week is the 3rd week that's the 70% one. Etc.

Often older films are just a flat 35%.
