The new Magic Lantern has REALLY high ceilings....like 25'+. Is there a better or worse pole unit that you all use to change these in your theater? I've found several on the web but not sure if they actually will do the job.

Thanks

Poles do work but you need one that is tight fiting when extended as a little woble in the conections moves the top end inches so it can take hours to replace all the lights and you also need a good grip on the light as they tend to fall when you get them all the way up there then you have a falling bomb comeing down like a smart bomb and it always seams to find its target your head

In other words get a good one dont skimp its something you will use for many years

This just made me think back to my days on a very large A-frame ladder with the vertical extender piece that came up the middle trying to get a light bulb out and a new one in and the center piece of the ladder felt like it was swaying back and forth. I never want to do that again!

In one theatre we had like this there was attic access for changing the lights. The cans lifted out into the attic space for cleaning and changing.

Back when I was MUCH younger, I worked at a big single screener with very ornate chandeliers. They were lowered from the attic on crank winches... made it very easy to keep the bulbs changed.

Wish I had pictures of that place. Back then, it never occurred to me that a place like that wouldn't last forever.

I have 34' ceilings with chandeliers on hand cranks. The few remaining ceiling lights were taken out and replaced with large sconces on the side walls which can be changed using an extension ladder. Definitely go to LED, especially if you are using colors. If you want white, make sure you test the bulbs first to make sure you are happy with the color.
