Hi/ we've had video taping at one site and it has worked well. We're thinking of adding it at another but are a bit confused by the options and different costs. Question # 1: Do you like web hosted (video is stored on host hard drives) or a DVD / Hard drive storage on your computer?
#2 is live acces via the web something that is a must?

# 3 If you did not have vid recording and added it...was it a good thing?

I have a VHS in one location and the hard drive in the other. The quality of the recording is much better on the hard drive. I have it set to record over itself once a week. The VHS also records over itself, but I often forget to change the tapes in a timely fashion.

I have a 4 camera setup on my PC works great!

you do need to be carful as some require huge amouts of computing power!

The one I have runs just fine on a celeron 700 w/256M ram and XP.

you can set it to do just about anything you want, I use motion detection recording.

if you want info on the one I use let me know.

and what positive or negative results do you feel that you see from the set-ups?

We have a camera system that records on a DVR at the theatre but we can log in and watch from anywhere. I kept myself from doing this on vacation. I looked for over a year for an easy to use system and found this one at ShowEast.

It is a deterrent. People see the cameras and therefore they might keep them from doing something stupid.

One time I did take the video and put it with the register log to see an employee hand out candy and never ring it up.

Once the kids KNEW we could see them all the BS stoped pretty much.

Ours can be viewed via internet also if needed, one thing we would have done is get cameras with pan/tilt & zoom, MANY times you just WANT to see something but can't be sure and hate to annoy the rest of the people by going in for a look...

might have cost a few hundred more but would have been worth it!
