Some of you may have remembered my posts over a year ago now that related to a very low budget feature film our company acquired entitled FACING THE GIANTS. At the time, we were looking at doing our own very limited theatrical platform (hence the name onourown). As fate would have it, we ended up striking a fantasitc deal with Sony.

It is now scheduled for release September 29 on over 400 screens in 85 markets. (Not bad for a film that only cost $125K to produce, on HD, with no professional actors.) IDP (Samuel Goldwyn) is actually handling the theatrical release for Sony. For more info check out the site: www.facingthegiants.com

Our company, Carmel Entertainment, is obviously hoping for a big weekend. We have a modest national media campaign planned with add buys that will be on ESPN, Fox News and other nets. However, most of our efforts have gone into a strong "grassroots" campaign.

When we first started out, we never dreamed this little film would have this big an opening. In many respects this movie exceeds the Blair Witch story.

Anyway, just wanted to make all aware of it's upcoming release since I didn't notice it on your release chart.

BTW, our company is committed to acquiring and producing movies that will always strive to incorporate a reasonable theatrical window, before DVD and other ancillary markets. Just wanted you to know.

Chris, this is absolutely amazing news!!! After visiting the site and viewing the trailer, this is exactly the type of movie that appeals to me personally. I have just forwarded this onto many friends, family, and we are also planning a teen youth group excursion through our church to see it.

Thank you so much for making us aware of its release and I truly hope it has a very successful opening. PLEASE keep us all updated here as to any news and the status, especially after the 29th.

This is the type of success story we all need to hear about. CONGRATULATIONS!

After watching that I think they need to go 1500+ screens.

I would play it in my market just fine. Probably better than this horror stuff that won't play in my family market.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I'll keep you updated. As far as Australia is concerned, it probably depends on how well it does here in the States. Time will tell.

Thanks all. Last count the film is opening on 441 screens this Friday! We're certainly hoping for a big weekend.

The producers will be interviewed tomorrow (Thursday) night on Hannity and Colmes from our Hollywood premier at the ArcLight. Check it out and if the movie is opening in your theater...thanks for your support.

Congrats, onourown! I see your film took in $1.39 million this weekend. The intended audience seems to really appreciate the movie.

Thanks, it's been interesting tracking with the box office. We're pleased with the outcome, especially given the modest P&A campaign. We really think this film will have strong word-of-mouth. So we'll be watching to see how the film performs into the next weekend.

Check out yahoo's top rated movies in theaters list. It's pretty amazing!

Also, we've held onto 95% of our theaters going into this weekend. So we're hoping the word-of-mouth kicks in so we can have another strong weekend.

I'll keep you posted.

Chris:

I want to play this film at my theatre but my booker says there are only 400 prints and it will be a looooooooong time before we can get it. We are a 248 seat single screener in Sumner, Iowa (Sunset Theatre) and my booker is Frank Rash of Theatre Booking Service in Beatrice, Nebraska. Can you help?
