Eragon and Happiness opened very well but Charlottes seems a bit lackluster. How is it doing in your locations? We have numerous school groups next week but I am disappointed with Friday and Saturday grosses. I thought this was a lock for the top spot this week.

We are only doing about a third of what we expected with Charlotte. And we are really scratching our heads as to why the public is either not interested, or holding back on this one.

The same thing happened with the prior Paramount animated version back in 1973. Great movie, great buzz and the public yawned and could have cared less.

Very dissapointed with turn out so far, but people leaving are enjoying, so hope it picks up as schools go on vacation. The sad thing is I actually lost a couple school groups that normally come this next week because of lack of interest by the students! Usually the schools are crabbing that we can't get a "G" movie! Not sure what is happening in my small towns.

My personal opinion?

The title character dies, and the kids know this from reading it in school, and don't want to see it. Especially at Xmas.

Gave a friend a pass to a pre-opening screening last week for her and her 8 year old. The kid said exactly that: she didn't want to see it because it's sad.

Heard the same thing about it being a sad story with the pig biting the bullet. We opened Nativity against it and Nativity actually beat it!! We do have several school groups scheduled this week should help.

Glad it's not just us!

doing maybe 1/4 what we should have had!

We too have several school groups coming, so thankfully that will bring our numbers up.

What I have found is that several people have mentioned to me they thought this was a year or two old and didn't want to see an old movie. was there a DVD version called Charoltts Web 2 out a while back?

possibly this may also be keeping some people away.

TOny.

Tony,

Charlotte's Web 2 was released in March 2003 as a direct to video release.

Very slow here too. I hope when school breaks it will pick up. With the long power outage in this area the other week people are a week behind in their holiday shopping too so I am hoping that after the holiday it will really pick up. The school groups are having a great year since they can pick from Santa 3 or Web.

At least we open Museum on Friday so there will be a choice of a comedy.

This past weekend was our first weekend for Charlotte and it was pretty dreadful to say the least. Hopefully next weekend will perform better for us. We're just thankful that we didn't open Charlotte's Web on the first week, otherwise we would have been stuck with it for 3 weeks instead of 2.
