I received this email:

"I was wondering if you could tell me how I can get the tracking numbers for movies that are coming out. I know that the films are tracked, I just don’t know how to get the number. I am assuming from AC Nielson and/or Rentrak???"

Good question. Stdio reps are al;ways saying things like "it's tracking at a . blah-blah-blah." or It's not tracking well.... when they run down their opposition.

Is there an open tracking locale?

They measure awareness of the movie gotten from surveys and test screening reactions. That is what I have gathered from my booker.

Now the big quesiton what do they really mean? Just because every male between 18 and 22 wants to see this film does that mean he will come to my theatre? Those are the questions I would like answered!!!

When I worked the Bel-Air circuit in Hollywood. My bosses would get daily box office numbers and other info directly from the studio. All these figures covered many different areas.
