TOPIC: Getting new theater listed on Moviefone, etc.

Getting new theater listed on Moviefone, etc. 21 Oct 2006 10:28 #13501

We've been open for four months and have had no luck getting listed on Moviefone (we finally made it to Fandango). We've tried emails, phone calls, everything we can think of, with no luck. Our patrons are complaining!

Any suggestions?

I email my schedules to these addresses:

This seems to do the job. Our listings also find their way to the satellite TV services.

Is this a subscription service or can anybody like me add their theater?

Good question/ there does seem to be some kind of interactive listings with bots and spiders doing the leg work and cloning into various sites. We never fax or e mail our stuff to the sites but we are on all of them every week. Do you have a good web site that can be searched? Do send out a weekly e mail? Mike

Hmmmm, I do send out e-mails and I like to think I have a good website but I'm not sure if a bot can determine my showtimes or not (www.elkadercinema.com). Maybe I should e-mail one or more of these sites.

Mine are listed everywhere, but Fandango. I just wrote to someone at Tribune Media Services about getting listed on Fandango. I used to email to cinema-source and nowshowing, but haven't in months. My times still get listed. Think they are on my email newsletter mailing list.

I just went through the same thing last Spring.

Basically you need to go directly to Cinema Source. They'll hook you up to Yahoo Movies and a bunch of other sites. But first you need to fill out a form. Once they set you up (takes about a week) they will then forward your data to the MovieFone crew.

Unfotunately after they send your theatre's info to Moviefone it takes about a month for you to start showing up there.

...at least that's what I had to go through. You can contact Cinema Source at:

Cinema Source
(203) 438-8389 (I suggest you call and not e-mail) www.cinema-source.com

A Fandango side-note...

I heard from my contact at Tribune Media that Fandango occassionally picks-and-chooses which showtimes they'll run for certain movies at certain theatres.

Personally I haven't had a problem with them. I think it has something to do with First vs. Second-runs.
