How about an update from all you loyal NATO members. Has there been any progress with legalizing cell phone blockers?
I have promised to join this somewhat weak organization if they can accomplish this legalization initiative.
The other way I would join is if Fithian resigned and Shari Redstone took over. Then we would have someone who actually knows what is going on in the theaters, and has the clout to get some things done.

I too have been wondering what progress has been made on this issue?

Also, anyone from NYC, has the local law had ANY effect on cell ABusers?

And in the mean time anyone see a GOOD anti Cell msg on 35mm?

Active cell phone blockage is prohibited under Federal Communications Commission rules. That might be a good place to keep an eye on. I don't recall seeing anything on the subject lately.

I can tell you MANY schools and I'm sure other places have been using them for years now, I think people would accept it no questions asked if the cell just "didn't work" in the building...

Oh, yah... there's no question that people are buying them. I suppose the "lots of metal in the building" argument can be made. But if you get caught with one on the wall behind the insulation in your attic, you'll get a fine from Uncle Fed.

The only argument I've seen that seemed legit, other than the whining from the cell phone industry and consumer groups like doctors & lawyers, is the possibility that the jamming signal could carry outside the boundaries of your private establishment and effect people walking (or driving) by.

Sounds like an effective way to deal with it!

Not really sure if we could be quite as forceful with our language in a "Family Theatre"

But it sure would feel good!
