We open a lot of pictures for two weeks at one or the other theatre and sometimes move them to the other theatre we own. BV said: no way. No 2 week deals. No 2 + move. Anyone get a 2 week deal?

The theatre I was looking at in Pa. always gets 2 week deals regardless if it is first run or 2nd run!
They have two screens and have no problems getting whatever they want at those terms.

Last we heard was 3-4 weeks no moves. A lot seems to depend on their product and your gross potential for it.

I have found BV increasingly difficult to deal with in regards to their terms. Good luck, Mike.

What I have found over the years is that whenever a studio begins to feel it is the 'top dog' then the terms go up and the deals get more difficult.

In the late 80's it was Paramount;in the early 90's it was Disney; most recently it has been Warner Bros. Now that Disney is once again at the top of the heap this is not surprising they are once again being difficult.

well, I hate to wish anybody bad times but it probably wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if they were brought a rung or two down the ladder......

As of Monday I am doing a two week on Guardian on my single. Will likely do a move over for additional week but am not committed to doing so. Two weeks ago they weren't even going to take my single but they chnged their minds. My weekend gross is likely under 2K.

I passed and went with Scoundrels/Little Miss/ Flyboys/Open Season. I think it's good to let them know you will pass if push comes to shove. I thought it was a good offer: 2 weeks in one and 2 weeks in the other. They chose neither. Seems stupid. And it would do better that way in any event.

When we asked Disney about running Cars and Pirates on the break in our single, they also told me absolutely nothing less than four weeks. I told them no thanks. About a week and a half before it opened, they called to offer it to me for two weeks with a possible hold over to the third depending on grosses.

Thats the same way it happened with me. Ended up holding both for 3 weeks in both single houses. Probably shouldn't have with Pirates in the small towns considering terms and the drop off in business.
