If I stretch really far back into my mind, it seems I can remember a time when I was about five or six and going to the movies upstairs in a room that was glassed in. Do these rooms still exhist? Does anyone use them anymore? If you do, is it because they just came with the theaters or did you bulid them yourself and how do you feel they work?

I think you mean a place where kids can make noise without bothering others. My feeling is that the movies that young kids would be attracted to or should be seeing ... Babe, etc.... usually do not have a conflicting audience so there's no point in separating them. With the young teens I've often wished I could box them up so they didn't bother people but then they'd feel no restraint and you'd hear them no matter what! We just stay on kids, identify them, warn them, and chuck the noisy ones as an example. It's all part of the socialization process and we are usually the first place that kids can go out on their own so we get to teach them real world manners.

You're talking about "Cry Rooms".

These theaters near me still have them:

ELMA THEATRE, Elma, Wash.

MOSSYROCK "G" THEATRE, Mossyrock, Wash.

LAKEWOOD THEATRE, Lakewood, Wash. (also has a glassed-in "smoking room").

Pictures of these theaters are posted on cinematour.com
