We have a local group renovating a Train Station that wants us to run a special show for them as part of a fund raiser, They want it to be a Train Movie of course!

Any Ideas???

P T A

The Train

Train Of Life

Silver Streak

Runaway Train

Thats about all I can think of!

Station Agent maybe, but I dunno how much it really deals with trains?

Thanks for any help!

Tony.

"What a crazy business"

The only "train" movies that I can think of are Planes, Trains, and Automobiles and Throw Momma From the Train, but I doubt that's what you had in mind

Actually I take that back. Another one that came to mind is Polar Express.

Good Lord, How could I have missed Orient Express???

Not to mention Polar Express, Though a Christmas Movie even about a train probably would fall as flat as Christmas in the Clouds in Feb Did!

Thanks!

How about everyone's least favorite Harrelson/Snipes film, Money Train?

Silver Streak sounds good. I loved Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, but it is a bit of a holiday film, and if you have a family audience, don't forget Steve Martin's classic car rental scene! Not one for the kiddies.

Here's my picks ----

Emperor of the North - Lee Marvin & Ernest Borgnine in a gritty 1930s drama that takes part almost entirely on a train (excellent action & period depiction)...

Journey of Natty Gann - A really good Disney family film which will interest all ages...

The Railway Children (1970) - An excellent British film which will play to all ages & is done with the attention to detail that the Brits do so well...

It's hard to pick a favorite train movie since there are so many, most of which have already been listed.

But in my top five is Richard Fleischer's "Narrow Margin" (1952). What a great flick!

"The General" is a Buster keaton silent movie. If you have the facility to do a silent, like a theatre organ or a piano then this could be run as a great fund raiser. People will come out better for something unique like this. Have a cival war costume contest. Have a local cival war group provide a color guard or just to stand in the lobby and great people.

Don't know what your target audience is but "Thomas and the Magic Railway" was a favorite of my little guy.

Saw the General last summer. They built a trestle for the movie and then ran a steam loc off it into a river: awesome! That movie is unbelievable to see Keaton do his own stunts in real time with death waiting. He makes Jackie Chan look like a Girly Mon!
