Paramount reps have all been let go and I am bumming. I've dealt with the NY office for 11 years and loved Paramount as theyw ere always the best to deal with and very fair to the little guys. I'm really going to miss Ellen and Russ and wish them all good luck.

That's terrible news. Lorna was my rep and she was a gem. Hope she lands on her feet somewhere.

Any ideas who to call to book Paramount movies now? Is it maybe my Dreamworks rep?

As far as I know: today was last day for all Paramount people though a few may have been retained. I think the answer to your question is yes/ your Dreamworks people will be the reps.

I don't know yet what's happening to all the accounts who dealt with the Dallas office, or the other branches in the north and east that aren't mentioned above (like CIncinnati, Indianapolis, etc.)

These folks will handle both Paramount and Dreamworks, and for the time being, will still be in their respective offices.

I now have the update of who does what territory for the entire country. Rather than post the whole thing, just e-mail me with your particular branch, and I'll let you know who to contact, with e-mail and phone info.

Looks and sounds as though they cleaned out much of the "old guard".

Given the recent rulings from the courts on the effects of such layoffs, I wouldn't be surprised if an age discrimation suit maybe in the offing.

I wrote to Larry today to get my salesperson's number. Did anyone get a letter or anything stating who to call for bookings and promo material? I have heard nothing from anyone from Paramount since they laid everyone off. Oh, I forgot DreamWorks sent me a letter telling me where to send my money... All the phone numbers I used to call just ring and ring when I call them. Corporate referred me to a number that no one even answers. Doesn't that all seem odd for a major corporation?

Our Paramount rep sent us an e-mail telling us who we should call for future product. I called one of those numbers and was given another number to call. I ended up just calling my Dreamworks person for what I wanted. Here are the names and numbers I was given to call at Paramount:

Melanie Valera 212-654-7208
Carla Ornelas 212-654-7724
Pam Araujo 212-654-7710

We are in the Detroit territory, but my guess would be that if any of these are still working, they should be able to help.

Melanie is still there. She is one of the few at Paramount that survived. She has been my Paramount sales rep for the past year or so and she is great to work with.

I'm not sure what territories she handles other then Philadelphia, but give her a call and find out. If she doesn't handle yours, I'm sure she'll point you in the right direction.

Sad news. In my theatre days, most of the big cities had offices for the major distributors, and face-to-face contact and friendships. Today's world is so impersonal.

Ironically, Frank Mancuso Sr. (former President of Paramount) managed the Paramount office in Buffalo, where I worked as a projectionist at theatres just to the south.

Real old-timers even remember when the distributors often had their own film exchanges/depots.
