TOPIC: Dolby CP650

Dolby CP650 14 Feb 2006 15:45 #12222

What's the deal on these units in terms of the 650XO from the base 650? Is this an upgrade that one should have or is the 650 fine without the speaker crossover and Le,Re support (whatever that is)

Thanks

The 650XO, I believe, has EX installed by default however it's not really necessary unless your theater will be equipped as such.
Moreover, maybe 6 movies a year at best are EX.

The CP650 model designation by itself is the digital processor WITH EX & Digital Cinema capability.

The CP650XO adds the built in crossover for seperating the woofer and tweeter in the front channels. There are other models, the 650D (without EX or DC capabbility), 650SR (without digital sound altogether).

I would reccomend the CP650, even if you will not be spliting your surrounds, because if you install DC later you'll have to buy EX card anyway.
