What do you think of the films that have been nominated? I've noticed over the last few years that the Oscars have been nominating more independent films as oppose to nationwide released films. Even the 5 films that are nominated for best picture are all independent films. What do you think of that? Do you think that they are starting to realize that Hollywood is holding back on making good movies and the only ones that are getting recognized are the ones that are released independently? Also, do you think that the Oscar nominations are leaving the mainstream public behind, since I'm sure many people have not seen or possibly heard of these movies?

What surprised me is the crowd pleasing Walk the Line did not get a Best Pic nomination.

I think this could be a wake-up call to the big production companies. It's time to get back to making films with meaning rather than those with violence, no story to speak of, excessive noise, and profanity.

"Brokeback Mountain" best picture
Philip Seymour Hoffman, "Capote" best actor
Reese Witherspoon, "Walk the Line" best actress
Jake Gyllenhaal, "Brokeback Mountain" best supporting actor
Rachel Weisz,"The Constant Gardener" best supporting actress
George Clooney, "Good Night, and Good Luck" best director

These are a few of my picks. I hope that Narnia and King Kong get some recognition also.
