We have six urns in our main balcony auditorium, three on each side. Each urn has three 5 sockets for colored bulbs. We used to use a 40watt red flood in the center, and the rest 25-40watt red lightbulbs. I'm testing out a red fluorescent lamp in the center of the urn. My oh my, one little lamp and the entire urn is blanketed in red light. No, the fixtures have a fix wattage, and don't dim during the show. I'm hoping to replace every urn lamp with the fluoresent as they burn out. We may do the same with the floods under our outside marquee. 18 bulbs, 75watts each do add up on the electric bill. I had also tested led bulbs on the vertical sign, but didn't like the look of them. Plus, they were too expensive, even buying 500 at once. 500 130v 7watt lightbulbs aren't too energy efficent either. But, at least it looks kewl at night. LED bulbs were to bright, and cast a blue tint to them.
