Folks,
I first want to let all of you know how helpful these forums have been. I have been reading for 10 days straight.

We have had an 8 year old 8-plex close within the last month. There is no other theater in town. I have a P/S on a building that used to be a 3-plex theater. It has been gutted so I can put back as 3 or 4-plex. Approximately 7500 sq ft. I have the opportunity to purchase equipment from 8-plex from mall owner.

My question is this. How much should I offer? A big-box took out a demolition permit on the theater today. I'm sure it probably depends on the brand of equipment. I have full equipment list with make a model numbers.

I know this is a very generic question, so is there anyone out there willing to take to me in person about this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Robert

If you mean that you're wondering how much to offer for the 8-plex equipment, I'd find out what that equipment is first!

If its something like ORC or CFS, keep walking.

ORC/CFS are older (non existant) projection booth equipment makes, like Strong or Christie.

Seats like that can be had for $10-15 used. Hardest part is taking them out. Also, older chairs require maintenance- fabric cleaning or cushion replacement, parts, etc. Used seats can save you or cost you depending on previous owner.

Those particular projectors and platter systems are reliable(again if previously maintained)equipment. Does the lamphouse/rectifier come with them? Figure about $1500-$2000 per set. Again, getting them out will be a chore especially if it's a console.

You didn't specify about available sound equipment. Or concession items.

Good, used equipment can save you easily 50% over new. Key is avoiding the junk. Good luck.

Thanks Reelman,

This is a complete theater. Concession with all equipment, sound (4 stereo, 4 mono), screens, everything. They are looking for a "lot price".

What is the name & model of the stereo processors and amplifiers? Don't even waste your time with the mono equipment- your audience deserves stereo at a minimum. If you want, email me the list and I'll go through it with you. Does the mall owner own this equipment from the former tenant or was it the property of the theatre owner/leasee?

Thanks Reelman,
I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I have been out of town. Would you still be willing to look at the equipment list with me?
