I hate to tear everyone away from predicting our communal imminent demise but I am a little stuck.

On 3 screens what would you figure is "must play" for late July and August?

Right now we have Bewitchy, Sis Hood of Pantasia, and World O' Wars.

Next week we open Charlie + Wedding Crashers and hold War. So really the first opening weekend for us is July 22 onward.

What do you think?

It's good to be able to read and respond to something besides how we are all going under....
I think The Island has a real shot. Not sure about Bad News Bears. The PG-13 bothers me. I think a PG would have been much better on that one. I really want to see Must Love Dogs but It's clearly a "chick flick" and both Traveling Pants and Perfect Man were real duds for us,so I don't know. Think it could be this year's Notebook though.
For us Dukes of Hazard is a must, but don't know how it would play in the east.
Anyway, for what it's worth, those are my picks.

Having seen The Island - it's a must play. It's up there with Crash & Cinderella Man as one of the best pics of the year so far.

We've done very well with War of the Worlds. Our first night with Fantastic 4 looks like we'll do well with it, too. We've done pretty well with Batman. We did so-so with Longest Yard. Buzz here is very positive about Dukes and Wedding Crashers.

Off-break, I'd go with Bewitched over Herbie.. unless you're more well known for kiddie fare. Disney's 35% minimum makes off-break bookings difficult for us, anyway.

I'm nearly saturated. I'd sure like to see a good draw that isn't adventure/sci-fi/superhero-comic-book-redux.

March of the Penguins! - great for everyone from kids to grannies.
Must Love Dogs looks like it could hit well with adults in a marketplaced deluged with fare aimed at teenage boys.

Doesn't anybody think Stealth will be good? I am still not playing WB so many of your picks are not on my dance card.

Burney: Why aren't you playing any WB?

There's been a lot of hype for Wedding Crashers, Wonka and Dukes of Hazzard. That's what a lot of teenagers are waiting for!

The buzz here has been almost nonexistent. I played the trailer for almost 4 weeks & actually heard groans in the field. It may have (hopefully) been an early trailer version. Otherwise, I'm hearing nothing about it here.

As I mentioned earlier, though... there's an awful lot of sci-fi in the movies right now, and we've played most of it this Summer.

Those movies sound real good, I think "Dukes of Hazzard" on Aug 5th and "Red Eye" on the 19th.
